Legacy Blog #104 - “Dare to surround yourself with individuals who are ALREADY where you want to be”

When you think of what you want to be in life, do you think of a title or a description?

Do you aspire to be a teacher, principal, leader, tutor, mentor, coach, therapist, counselor? Or is it more important to you to be known as a dreamer, a planner, a doer, a successful person with your head in the clouds but feet planted firmly on the ground? I would argue that any career title isn’t as important if you don’t have an inspiring description to back it up. If we’re completely honest with ourselves, wasn’t the reason you wanted to be a (fill in the blank) because of an amazing person who did it before you? You know… that legendary mentor or role model who made it appear as if what (s)he did was the ONLY thing worth doing in life. I can’t stress enough how absolutely essential it is for educators to have mentors and support if they wish to be effective and inspiring role models to the people they encounter daily.

That’s exactly why mentorship was a founding principle on which Legacy Inventive Solutions for Schools, LLC was founded. We’re thrilled to announce that Legacy held it’s very first Open House on July 11th , 2017! Young and old, seasoned and new educators came in to tour the Legacy Lab. The presentation was insightful and interactive. The conversations were relatable and uplifting. Annnnd… I must say the lunch was delightfully scrumptious! But more importantly… the community of educators gathered together in one space was electrifying. Each person felt comfortable enough to ask questions, share experiences, and enjoy a safe place of like-minded individuals.  It’s amazing how small the education circuit really is… everyone appeared to be connected in one way or another! It was truly a lovely day for a much-needed event.

Missed the Open House? More events are on the horizon! Stay tuned in to our website and keep an eye out for our flyers around the city to make sure you’re a part of the wonderful movement taking place at Legacy!

Legacy Blog #103 - "Sometimes the questions are COMPLICATED and the answers are SIMPLE"

It's that time of the year again...
New teachers and all you free-spirit floaters know exactly what I'm talking about. For many people, summer break may as well be renamed "Interview Season". It's a nerve-racking time of year solely dedicated to perfecting your resume, searching for just the right schools, and praying that one of your top choices contacts you for an interview. Whew! I'm exhausted just writing about it!
Well, if you're one of those people who relies on Google or Siri for help, it may take you hours or days to browse through endless templates of "Award Winning Resumes" or "101 Top Interview Questions". Sound familiar? Then you find yourself asking: But which one should I choose? Are any of these specifically for educators? Will this resume generator spell-check and proofread my submission? Good Lord! Who has time for all that? "Not I", says the last minute procrastinator still determined to enjoy as much summer fun as possible. (Hmm, just me again?)
Fear not. Legacy does Interview Prep too! Super Teachers to the rescue! We can help with anything from highlighting your best skills and qualities on your Resume to simulating mock interviews with a panel of stern-faced, overly judgmental professionals...just like the ones you will encounter at school sites! But seriously...
Here are just a few tips below and if you're interested in learning more, you know where to find us!

                                            Preparing for the Interview

Questions Most Likely to be Asked

Legacy Blog # 101 - "Trust the MAGIC of New Beginnings"

Starting something new is never easy, but it sure is exhilarating! I'm overjoyed to bring you the most exciting news you didn't even know you were waiting to hear:

Summer 2017 launches the beautiful beginnings of

Legacy Inventive Solutions for Schools, LLC!!!

Why should you be dancing in the street right now? Because for the past 10 years of working alongside educators: we listened, took notes, and came up with a plan of action. How many times have you wished that you had more time and resources to plan fun, engaging lessons for your students? How often have you groaned with frustration about not having enough support/mentorship to meet your yearly growth targets? I can only speak for myself when I reply "too many times to count".

Well have no fear, Legacy is here!

We've done the work, trained with the masters, and collected an entire library of resources (Shhh! Don't ask, don't tell). So if you work with students in grades K-8, we have everything you need to make your job a whole lot easier this year. Don't believe me? Take a few moments to check out the website and browse through the photos of our New Beginnings. One look and we know you'll be ready to join Legacy's first cohort of Legends in the Making!

Yep that's right, we even have a fully functional copier for all your last-minute, student-friendly, common core aligned WORKSHEETS!(wink, wink)
